Frequently asked questions

Is Easy Subs really free?

Yes — completely free, no trial period, no paid tier to unlock more features. It's supported by ads rather than a subscription, and it's staying that way.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There's no sign-up, no login, and no email address required anywhere. Open the page and it works immediately.

Does it work without internet, on a field with no signal?

Yes, once you've loaded it at least once while online. Add it to your phone's home screen (see the guide for how) and it works fully offline after that — the app itself, your saved roster, everything except loading it for the very first time.

Is my roster saved? Where does it go?

Your player names are saved in your browser's local storage, on your own device only. Nothing is ever sent to a server, because Easy Subs doesn't have one — there's nowhere for it to go. Clearing your browser's site data removes it. See the Privacy page for the full detail.

What sports does it work for?

Any team sport with bench rotations — football/soccer, touch rugby, netball, basketball, hockey, and similar. The app doesn't assume any particular sport's rules; you set how many are on the field, how often to swap, and how many swap at a time, so it adapts to whatever format you're running.

What age groups is it designed for?

Any — it was built for a youth team, but the rotation logic doesn't care about age. Coaches of adult social/recreational teams use the same fairness argument just as often.

Can I adjust the timer once the game has started?

Yes. Tap −1 min or +1 min to nudge the current countdown for things like stoppage time, or edit the "Swap every" field to change the interval from that point on — neither resets the game or touches who's on the field. See the guide for the full walkthrough.

What if a player gets injured mid-game?

Select them and tap MARK OUT — they're removed from the rotation immediately and the bench closes around them. If they're able to come back later, they rejoin the bench queue with one tap from the Out list.

Does it work on both iPhone and Android?

Yes, in any modern mobile browser on either. It can be added to the home screen on both, though there's one difference worth knowing: vibration on substitution alerts works on Android but not iPhone, since Apple has never implemented the Vibration API in Safari on any iOS version. The sound cue works on both.

Is there a limit to roster size, or how many play at once?

No fixed limit either way — set "On field at once" to whatever your format needs and add as many players as your squad has.

Do you sell or share my data?

There's no data to sell — nothing you enter ever leaves your device, and there are no accounts to link it to even if there were. See the Privacy page for specifics on advertising.
